Professional Engineer Chosen as Liberal Party candidate for upcoming New Westminster--Coquitlam by-election
Coquitlam -- Ken Beck Lee, a professional engineer was nominated by the Liberal Party of Canada to be the Party’s candidate in an upcoming by-election in the New Westminster--Coquitlam constituency.
Mr. Lee, a resident of New Westminster has been acting as a member of the expert roster of the UN Climate Change Agency since 2002. On behalf of this UN Agency, he has audited many greenhouse emission projects around the world. As a professional engineer and successful businessman, Ken Lee has also undertaken environmental projects in Canada and overseas. Ken is the owner and manager of New East Group of companies.
Speaking to supporters, Mr. Lee said “I am proud to join Michael Ignatieff’s team. I am confident that a Liberal Party of Canada government under the leadership of Michael Ignatieff will stop ignoring the suffering of families as a result of the recession, reduce the deficit, and return Canada to a strong fiscal position. A strong economy is essential to create jobs and prosperity.”
“I want to thank the local members of the Liberal Party for their support and confidence. I look forward to the coming by-election campaign and the opportunity to meet voters, and convince them that a Liberal Party government would be best for Canada.”
Ken has devoted many years to voluntary work in the community including three years service as Director of Surrey Community Foundation, seven years as Director and Chair of Vancouver Korean Canadian Scholarship Foundation, three years as Chair of Korean Cultural Heritage Society. He has also served on various municipal committees in Surrey and Delta.
